Train Trip to Hallstatt - Finding My Hotel

Train ride from Salzburg to Hallstatt.  I have to admit that it was a little stressful. They give you programs so that you know when stops are, but they don't mention every stop. So I found myself anxiously watching signs at train stations, because when the train stops you have about thirty seconds to get off before the train leaves again. Whah!

So, for anyone traveling to Hallstatt, the stop right before the Hallstatt station is called Obersee. You may be tempted to get off here because you can see Hallstatt from this station and because you'll be able to see a ferry from here, but this is not the stop. So don't do it! The actual stop is called Hallstatt Station, even though Hallstatt is across the lake.

The walk down from the station.

The ferry is coordinated by time with the train, so you won't be waiting for a boat here for long.

Hallstatt! So excited!

You'll walk past this hotdog stand, (that's right, I said hotdog...)

And this church...

You'll see this square...

...and my hotel, The Hotel Gruner Baum, is right there.

No lift means I have to climb, with all of my luggage, up to the 2 stock, (floor.) And because we're in Europe that really means the third floor. Yay!

My room.

Nice comfy bed.

And a porch!I could've had a party!

Castle across the lake.

View of part of Hallstatt from my deck.

Down from my deck. Look! Swans!

Salzburg, Austria

My hotel was about a ten minute walk from the train station.

Albert Einstein has something going on here. Don't know what, but thought I should take a picture so that when I figure out what--I'll have proof that I was there.

This is the restaurant I ate at. My waitress kept calling me lady, like miss. For example: Are you ready to order, lady?, Everything was good, lady?, and Thank you, Lady. It was awesome.

I didn't like what I had for dinner so much. It was ravioli, but there was mint in it which just tasted weird. I'm not sure why I thought I'd like that. This dessert however was fantastic. The chocolate tasted like Nutella.

People still dress like this. Mostly older folks, but if they are trying to sell to younger folks, then they must wear them too... right?

Was this building in The Sound of Music? I hope so! I wanted to go on the Sound of Music Tour, but I wasn't in Salzburg long enough to do it. :(

Sorry my pic is blurry. I took this picture over a fence. Then I got yelled at by security. I don't even know who they were, but they sounded good.

Mystery band... If you know who they are let me know. Thanks.

The goth version. See they appeal to everyone!
